MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala dilapidated out of the Singapore Tennis Open qualifers after topple over at the hands of Simona Wltert of Switzerland, 3-6, 3-6, on Sunday Januray 26, 2025.
The 19-year-old Eala fails to reach the main draw of the Singapore Tennis Open, losing to the Swiss ace in just one hour and 16 minutes.
Waltert defeats Eala for the third time in their last four encounters, moving one step closer to securing a spot in the main draw of the tournament.
On Saturday, Eala narrowly defeated Japanese player Sara Saito in three sets, 6-1, 6-7 (1), 7-5, to begin her campaign, but ultimately fell short of reaching the main draw.
The Filipino netter recently arrived from India, where she was defeated by Dalila Jakupovic, 4-6, 4-6, in the round of 16 at the W100 Bengaluru on Thursday.
Eala also misses the opportunity to enter the main draw of the Australian Open 2025, following a first-round loss in the qualifiers.
